yeah a lot of grad programmes filter out the grades below 2:1 etc...though 2:2 is probably the min. threshold.

if you do get through to the assessment days, the aptitude tests and observed exercises usually weed out the true talent from the ones who can just ace exams...

HK$ 9000/month - i;m not joking but my mum told me that hk grads were fighting over jobs paying just HK$6k - that was a few years ago, but the locals will do anything to get their foot in the door...

good luck!

These are the annual examinations (part of the interview process) that the HK government holds each year for applicants to their administrative officers (AO) or executive officer (EO) corps. There's an initial exam, and then an interview process. A lot of HK unverisity graduates sit for those.

As I mentioned, the bigger companies and banks in HK do have the equivalent of the UK milkround where they recruit from the local tertiary institutions. Citibank, for example, used to have a big graduate programme - not sure if they do so anymore.

Go to your university careers office, pull out details of all the companies with offices in HK and contact those. If you have friends in the HK tertiary institutions, also get them to help you with the names and contact details of the firms that recruit on campus. Approach the HK job market as you would the UK milkround. It's not that different conceptually for fresh grads.

Best of luck.

Exactly what I was also questioning in my head when reading the first few posts in this thread!
