I'm thinking of going to Europe with an almost 5 yr old and a 80 yr old near end June. I want to join a tour for 9 days but my dad is complaining he may not survive 9 days, so I'm telling him he has to spend 4-5 hours sleeping in a touring bus.

P.S. I haven't had a trip for some yrs and this is the first time I'm with a child, and she's never had any trip before, long or short. The air trip may not be a problem since i'm sure she'll fall asleep. Is this a very daring act of mine?

Should I carry a backpack instead of a briefcase? I've never carried a briefcase before and I've seen people having difficulty with them.

Also, about the safety in Europe, I've read news about sex-slave traffic auctions at the 3 airports in London.

Any suggestions and advice?

Frankly you are mad to travel with an 80 year old and a 5 year old. Planes were not made for these age groups and kids are nightmares even on short flights. It is very unlikely your child will sleep. They reduce the air pressure in the cabin when flying which does no harm to adults, but it causes extreme pain in the ears of young ones. If you take your child on such a journey, he will probably spend most of the time screaming in pain. You will be embarrassed, and nothing you can do will shut him up. Think of the other passengers and don't do it.

As for being sold as a sex slave when you reach London, this is quite unlikely even if you are female, and under 40. You can pretend that the 80 year old is your husband, and you should be fine unless he has to go to the toilet or something and leaves you alone. Very few people get put into sex slave auctions as this is clearly illegal in England. Furthermore, most sex slaves come from Eastern Europe where they speak Russian, If you are from China or Hong Kong they wont get such a good price for you as say a girl from Turkmenistan
in Eastern Europe, so the slave traffickers are unlikely to choose you.
