| Neigbourhoods and needs Hi, When I last lived in HK, I was single and working in Kowloon. I chose to live in a beautiful flat in the New Territories and it suited me just fine. However, now that I am going to be returning to HK to work, the needs are different. I am now married and have an infant who will soon be a toddler (currently 9 months old). My husband is unsure of what he will be doing (i.e. Will he get offered a job? And where will that job be located? Will he attend classes in Mandarin at Chinese University this September? Or will he be doing a P.C.L.L. program next year?) These are possibilities that make choosing housing a bit more complex. My job will be based on HK island. I don't fancy living in the heart of the hub at ALL. Nor do I want to live in the heart of an expat area. However, my husband is new to living abroad and his needs are uncertain at this time in terms of where he will be working or studying. He hasn't any problems living in an area with a more local feel so long as transportation service is reasonable because we have the child and don't want to have to commute for ages to get anywhere. Given the bits to our situation, any advice for a working couple with one child on where to live? We are aiming to pay no more than 12,000 HKD for a decent, clean 2 bdrm. Thanks! |

| You have got many choices with HKD12,000 budget in New Territories. It would be better for you to try those developed districts in New Territories, like Tsuen Wan, Shatin, Tseung Kwan O, Tsing Yi and Kwai Chung etc. For Kowloon side, you may try Mei Foo Sun Chuen, Cheung Sha Wan and Kowloon Bay (Telford Garden) and Kwun Tong (Laguna City, etc). Good luck. |
