Stupidly left my wallet in back of taxi, reported it to police and teh like cancelled cards.

But does anyone know how to get new id card, do I just go to offices? do I have to go through the system from scratch again?

How doe sit work?

Hi discobay thanks for the reply. I couldnt find the link to that website in my panic. So it was very helpfull of you to put it in the post.

The immigration lady (she actually smiled at me in a nice way, when I registered they growled at me) said it had a been a busy day for lost ids more than usual had gone missing. Maybe its the weather.

There is a very good chance that some HK person will turn it in to the cops. I have lost my ID 6 times and it has always been handed over to the cops by some local. My ID was returned with my allet with all the contents intact.

HK folks are generally very honest and will turn it in. Hopefully this happens and you woun't need to bother with the immigration BS.

Hey Towercity, I lost my card a month ago while partying in Shenzhen (Which I btw recommend) and applied for a new one recently.

Go to the immigrationdept in WanChai, and approach the counter with your problem. You need to bring your passport and after the interviews etc. you have to wait 10 working days until its possible to collect it.
