Smile HGK Income Tax Levels & Salary Comparison

Hi there,
I'm currently negotiating a package for relocation from AUS to HGK and have been informed that tax in Income HGK is generally 15% (rule of thumb). Would this be a fair estimate to work from?
Also, I've had a look through the Robert Walters 06 & Salary DB HGK Salary Guides to get an idea of what the right level of salary would be. If anyone os famailar with these papers could you tell me whether the figures quoted are inclusive or exclusive of housing allowance?
Is HGK $41,000 per month housing allowance fair (wife, baby, large dog) -obviously need a yard of some description?
If anyone could share their experiences or knowledge to help answer any of the above Q's I would be grateful.
THX!

This is a "how long is a piece of string" question. HK$41,000/month is about four times the average income in Hong Kong, so I'm sure many people would not regard that as "fair". On the other hand I know people who spend well over HK$100,000 per month on rent...

At these sort of levels tax is 16% flat (except that the housing allowance has a taxable value of 10% of the rest of your package).
