Dependent Visa

Hi, I am a British Born Chinese working (working visa) in Hong Kong, i've got married in Hong Kong last year , my wife was born in Hong Kong, is it right i can apply for dependent visa now? i've heard the rules to obtain a visa would be that my wife would have to work, with enough money to help me if i lose my job? basically financially stable, she bought a place outright (no mortgage and before she met me) but she does not have a job anyone and we are about to become parents in september so what are my chances of getting a dependent visa successfully?

cheers
