Yes, she does. A nice lady. Yes, rent does depend on the building age. But think the buildings here are not older than 5 yrs. I may be wrong though

And the infrastructure - is it well? I mean, it's not problem with shopping, eating, general services?

The infrastructure is not too bad. There's a supermarket, about 6 to 10 restuarants, in Park Island and in the restuarant. The only concern would be your commute. But if you're willing to live in Tung Chung, Park Island is actually slightly near to Central. You kinda have to see yourself. Park Island is very resort like. But have to say that there are some people that hate it.

For me it's ok! Some years ago I even wanted to relocate to Saipan or Guam
Yes,I'll be working in Central. The office location is in Ruttonjee Centre (Duddell str.). The ferry arrives at Pier 2,right? I think that distance could be covered within 15 min.walk,or am I wrong?

Yup! It's at Pier 2. Not really sure where is Duddell Street. You could be right, it'll prob take 15 mins to walk around. I like Park Island because it's value for money and it's quiet too. Mid-levels is too much for me, i think.

Pier 2 to Ruttonjee will take you about 20 min - beware that walking through Central in the middle of summer will be like torture with the heat, humidity and pollution.
Friends of mine who live in DB and Park Island usually have to catch a taxi or bus from the pier to avoid the long walk....which adds up to your commute cost.

That is, unless you have a shower in the office....

When looking for accomodation, one has to think about transport rather than distance.

Used to live in Tung Chung (Caribbean Coast) and found the commute to Central such a breeze with a direct shuttle bus from the development right to Hang Seng Bank Building in Central in 35min, with only a 5 min walk to my office on elevated walkways....the perfect commute.

Psampras88, I wasn't aware there was a direct shuttle from CC to Central. That is way cool! I knew CC has a shuttle to Tung Chung MTR. I currently live in Seaview and am moving to LaRossa, Coastal Skyline, in a few months. I'm assuming you need to be a CC resident to use this shuttle? I have friends who live there and will have to ask them about this. Is it a 24 hour service, or just peak times?

I didn't know about that. I thought the only option is by MTR or Ferry? Is the Hang Seng Bank Building closte to the Ruttonjee Centre?

Yep direct shuttle service every 10 min during peak hours in the morning and every 30 min on the way back from Central to CC in the evening. The shuttle runs only in the morning and evening.
Cost for 1 way is HKD 18.

There is also a shuttle to Tsim Sha Tsui direct with similar schedules.

I meant it when I wrote 'the perfect commute' - my office is right across the Hang Send Bank building, did not even need an umbrella - lesson learnt: in HK, dont choose your flat location based on distance but based on transportation....Having said that, Caribbean Coast is a very pleasant and affordable development, little unknown or with a somehow negative image among locals, totally unjustified.

skyline, seaview and Carribean.... facilities. etc

Hi there,

We're Aussie expats, moved here in Oct last year, and pretty happy in coastal skyline....

basically carribean coast is newer i think than skyline, and seaview crescent is the oldest of the lot....

carribean has balconies right up to the top floors, whilst coastal skyline balconies stop at our floor - 12th! Balcony is absolutely worthwhile btw!

there is a new building in coastal skyline called La Rossa that also has balconies to the top floor...

carribean appts are generally better quality that the older coastal skyline, but the walls and stuff are different or something as sound permeates through worse than in coastal where its basically not noticeable at all! We have a neighbour always playing her piano and inside our appt can't hear a thing

Clubhouse - depends on what you like.... Carribean has lots of nice gimmicks, but unless you have kids, probably not that flash....also there are a lot of towers sharing the facilities there! we like coastal skyline clubhouse better - the gym is always pretty free, indoor pool open all year round, outdoor pool is big enough and pretty empty, 6 tennis courts (vs 2 at carribean) plus the usual squash, badmington, bowling alley etc.... always available whenever we've wanted to use and reasonable fees...

We've friends in all the four main towers, so by all means ask your questions and will try to get answers...

Tung chung facilities all pretty good, shopping centre is outlet shops, taste and welcome stores..... oh yes, the carribean coast has a mini mall underneath,.... with coastal skyline there's a local welcome, but its not 24 hours....

if u like hiking then tung chung is the place to be - so many hiking trails very close by, and the outlook from here is peaceful - ocean or mountain views and quite nice atmosphere, no noise and pleasant.... unlike central, midlevels, etc... also don't believe the stories about tung chung being more polluted.... it's quite okay here generally.... definately no worse than much of central hk!

anyway good luck with your search!
cheers
