I actually use Firefox most of the time. But Outlook Web Access (which I use for my email) doesn't work so well in Firefox so I use IE for that.

I had that problem on my notebook about two weeks ago after a Yahoo messenger installed. What I did was restoring the system back to an earlier date. If you are using XP, it will store a checkpoint for you everyday automatically. However, all programs you have installed in the time between will be gone (but not document files), and you need to reinstall them again, but at least it fixes your problem.
