I think I need to expand my flat search and will probably visit GP next weekend.

Any idea how much the 1500sf are renting for? Any sense what the efficiency ratio is?

Are the kitchens as nicely equipped as they appear on the website of Henderson Land?

Does GP appear baby friendly? Is the children's area of the clubhouse open yet?

Is the helper's quarters a reasonable size (and not some suffocating rabbit hole)?

Are the elevators fairly spacious and fast?

Are there any particular units to avoid?

How much would it cost for a taxi to Central? and how long would it take? are there any express minibuses?

The MTR website says the commute is 17 minutes from SWH to Central station. How long does it really take to get to the platform of the SWH station (the GP website says 3 minutes to the station but I am assuming that is to the nearest tower to the most remote station exit).

In the morning (around 8:30am or earlier), is it possible to get a seat on the train?

Thanks!

===> not sure. there might not be any 1500sqfs. the large ones are prob 1100 or 1200. again, that's from memory cos i never paid much attention to the larger flats.
around 80%

Are the kitchens as nicely equipped as they appear on the website of Henderson Land?
===> i'd say its fairly good. but small for the 2brs. not sure about the large units.

Does GP appear baby friendly? Is the children's area of the clubhouse open yet?
===>yes. well, can't do much comparison but at least i feel its better than anywhere else i've walked around.

Is the helper's quarters a reasonable size (and not some suffocating rabbit hole)?
===>no idea.

===>yes

===>70hkd i'd reckon. depends on traffic. at 8am it's prob like 10mins. i take bus 720 to admiraty and usually its around 15mins.

The MTR website says the commute is 17 minutes from SWH to Central station. How long does it really take to get to the platform of the SWH station (the GP website says 3 minutes to the station but I am assuming that is to the nearest tower to the most remote station exit).

===>depends on how fast u walk. 5-10mins is achievable.

In the morning (around 8:30am or earlier), is it possible to get a seat on the train?

===>i'd guess yes. u go to the other side of the train (furthest away from the entrance). i think the first few stations all had entrance from one end of the train.

Tsuiwah: I guess that the only way to find out all of this is to get over to the Promenade see it for yourself.

Personally, after seeing the marketing materials I kind of had a picture that this place might be something, but after 10secs (even before seeing the inside of a flat) I realized it wasn't for me. (Too much kitch amusement park over the place for my taste). Seeing the flats from the inside reassured me, better styling inside some of the flats, the ones were owners wouldn't have tried to leave their own mark with garish furniture and/or neoclassical decoration (haven't they heard of Ikea?), than in the common areas though. But the bedrooms were ridiculous in size, I am not extremely tall, 182cm (6ft), but I could barely stretch out my toes in the bedroom (yes I had to lie down on the floor to try).

ttyl,
Sorry, I just picked up your message. Will be coming to HK for a week+ tomorrow from Zhuhai. If you are in HK already we could get together for tennis or a drink.

Moving into Grand Promenade this week. Been around a lot and even on Kowloon side, but from the West and further East on HK Island, GP has always been my favourite, so the choice wasn't that hard. It was one of the first places I looked at, and after that, everything hasn't been worth comparing. I like the area too. It's quiet, got some neat restaurants, not too far from MTR or bus, got the sea, close to cityplaza with Fitness First and all that. It's all good.

It's got a nice style and I like it. Welcome another Grand Promenadian.

Now I just gotta find some suitable furniture..
