I am moving to Hong Kong to live with my boyfriend who is a Hong Kong permanent resident we have been together for three years and have lived together for most of that time. My question is am I entitled to obtain a dependent visa through this relationship even though we are not married but intend to get married? Does this also then entitle me to the freedom to work? If possible can you direct me to a website that has an electronic application form for a dependent visa? Thank you for your help!!! Mel

I'm in the same situation. My girlfriend is a Hong Kong citizen, and I'd like to know the answer to your question. But as far as I know, you cannot get a dependent visa if you're not married yet.

It's dealt with case-by-case, but I have never heard of ImmD granting a Dependent Visa unless you can show specific detailed plans for a wedding (not just a vague - "yes we'll get married one day").

1. am I entitled to obtain a dependent visa through this relationship even though we are not married but intend to get married? NO. Co-habitation is not under unsideration. 2. Does this also then entitle me to the freedom to work? NOT for visitor condition. 3. If possible can you direct me to a website that has an electronic application form for a dependent visa? Dependent visa consider legal marraige with local resident. Your application will be refused.
