Do I need import licence? I will be shipping my personal effects over and they include a few electronic items such as rice cooker, electric jug, etc. The DHL guy told me that I may need an import licence to bring these electronic items into Hong Kong and I said 'what'? Anyone has any experience to share?

‘electronic’ and ‘electrical’ is completely different, some of the electronic goods may need import or export license when classified as 'strategic item', electrical does not need any, simply tell them that is electrical not electronic….

Find a better shipping company, or refer them to the HK Customs website where they can find the list of items on which there is import control. Last edited by PDLM; 19-04-2008 at 12:18 PM.
