Friend of mine from France wants to buy a Sony Camcorder DCR SR100 and asked me if it will be cheaper to buy it in Hong Kong than Europe. I told him technology is about the same price in HK as in the US which is a lot cheaper than anything in Europe but it's been a while since I was in France.

It is still true that tech gear is cheaper in HK isn't it?

In general it is. Newly released highly desirable gear is slightly over-priced to start but drops quite quickly (unless it's Sony or Apple). A friend from France recently bought a couple of PSPs with games and memory sticks whilst here on business because it was much cheaper.

My French friend says it's $4,000 HKD cheaper in HK than France for the camera he wants! Thanks for the link nemrac. Guess he's going to be doing some serious shopping when he visits.
