Angry Argh! Computer virus - help!

Well, after finally setting up internet access in my new home, I discovered I have a virus. Can anyone guide me on where I can have my computer reprogrammed? And the cost? I cant just install antivirus updattes because it has effected IE and I cant download any patches.

Your urgent reply would be so much appreciated.

If you use Norton AV then there is really no need for you to use IE to download your updates. It's the same with most other popular AV programs. Why not try to get updates that way and try rescanning and clearing viruses?

Max, there are some fairly critical IE updates that have been released by MS in the past 48 hours... not AV.

IE was lagging bad in last 48 hours, I tried to do window updates but the critical package did'nt download. Then I did the alternative... went to add/remove programs and repaired the IE to see if it works, but seems IE was having its own problems so me left it... There are lot of Anti-virus available and people have different choices but it seems norton is used more than anyothers.
