| | | You may be mad, or just don't know the law. You are not allowed to take out large amounts of RMB out of China, unless you use "underground banks." Otherwise, there is too much trouble and tax.
Invensting in real estate in China and hoping you can take out the cash is foolish.

i appreciate your concern for my money, but i'd rather you avoid making judgements about my state of mental health, and especially posting an advice, without knowing my particular circumstances/motivations.
thanks for understanding
PS three replies and none of these are anwering the original question...

| | | Buying property in China Hi Khema,
I thought you didn't need any answers anymore as you allready have your investment opportunity in your mind.
What is it what you really need ? Why don't you talk to Hong Kong companies that are specialised in these Chinese matters ? There are a lot of them. As it comes to China mainland. Century21 is represented in China mainland and I was told they are doing a solid job.
As for others, I would have to have more details of what you are really looking for to help you out. It is like asking : I'm looking for a transportation tool.... But without any specification I don't know what to suggest... Cardealers , travelling agencies, moterbike dealers or even bicycles ? So be more open, give more details of what it exactly is what you are after and I will be more then willing to help you in any way I can.

| | | I think the "smart" investors are the ones that understand that in several years, when China becomes even more international, the RMB will be more easily taken out of China.
That being said, if anyone is looking for a property for purchase in China, outside of Beijing and Shanghai, and will consider Zhuhai (just next to Macau) as an investment, let me know, I can help.

| | | When you are saying "buy real estate", do you mean actual land or (part or all of) a commercial or residential building?
AFAIK there is no private ownership of land in China - you can only buy land use rights for up to 50 years. |
