The average household in Hong Kong doesn't pay a significant amount of tax. The threshold is HK$100,000 per year; the average income is only just slight above that, and I suspect the median is well below the tax threshold. Of the top of my head I seem to remember that only 25-28% of people in HK earn enough to pay tax.

Scraping by on 2.3 million a year? No wonder you are getting so worried about a dehumidifier.

i was thinking the same thing...

living below your means... at a salary of 2.3M per year... works out to be 191,000/month!!!!!!!

that's more than many make in an entire year! i'm only slightly above that for the whole year myself!

YIKES! i think that i'm in the wrong profession!

Not funny - more unfortunately.... Had a bit of a rough day in Shanghai and after reading those two threads about the maid/gecko pee/lawn mower I had tears running down my cheeks....
