it can even be less depending on the ram type that you're using.

just remember to buy the same ram type

RAM Type

I just had a look at the hkgolden site, there seems to be zillion brands of RAM. Are there any difference in the performances between brands? And how do I find out what RAM "type" I need?

hermoine, what machine are you using? is it a branded machine? desktop? laptop?

if it's a branded machine (i.e. Dell, HP, etc)
you can check here
http://www.crucial.com/index.asp

just put in the brand name and other info and you should come up with the right ram

not really noticeable performancewise.

Ask for laptop ddr ram and they'll know what you're on about.

Try and go for some of the better known brands such as PQI,Patriot,Samsung, Corsair,Kingston and you'll be fine.
