| Good day to all, I am a Singaporean working in a Japanese company. The company is going to transfer/relocate me from Singapore to the HK office which will setup in Aug 2006. The new company will have 4 staffs (2 HK local members). As this is a new company, they don't have the regulation on the employee benfit yet. Can someone advise me on the medical benefit as below: 1. Where i can find the HK gov regulation on the employeee medical benefit? 2. Is there any rate different for the local and foreigener? 3. Understand that the medical insureance is unlike Singapore CPF... Any advise or where i can get more info on this? Kee Chin |

| 1. There is no regulation on the provision of medical benefits by employers. Many companies do provide some low level insurance schemes for local staff reimbursing some or all of their costs for visiting private facilities, and some provide higher level schemes for expats. Medical care in the public hospitals and clinics is essentially free for all Residents (including any foreigners here on Employment Visas) - there is a HK$100 charge per visit to deter timewasters. Start here: http://www.ha.org.hk/hesd/nsapi/ for overall details of healthcare, and here: http://www.ha.org.hk/hesd/nsapi/?MIv...R%26Area%3dFNC for details of fees. "Eligible persons" means anyone holding a HKID card (including those Residents on Employment, Dependent or other visas (i.e. not visitors). 2. No - all Residents get charged the same. 3. There is the Mandatory Provident Fund which is a retirement savings scheme, not a medical scheme. Details here: http://www.mpfa.org.hk/ |
