Tailor in Wanchai

Hi,

I was highly recommended SAM by many.

But working in Wanchain, it is not very convinient for fittings (not enough time at lucnh break, close 19:30 and don't like shopping saturday!).

any recommendation in Wanchai? CB? central?

thanks.

I've never tried custom-tailor. But this is the most famous one in HK. You can take a look of the below website, their office hour from 0900-2100 in TST

Used to buy from Bosco in Queensway. Can't be sure he's still there.

Hi Sebb,

Hi Sebb,

I can recommend you my tailor who does visit offices and homes by appointment anywhere in HK, can arrange a meeting with you at your home or office at your convenient time. He is good and very honest guy with very reasonable prices.

Cheers!

Sebbb,
A good tailor is hard to find especially with so many in HK. I have been to several including Raja Fashions, Sam, and Pacific Custom Tailors. Sam (the real Sam his dad is retired) is the most famous, and one of the most expensive, but by far not the best. My wife being a QC has noticed poor stitching and button spacing with slightly off cutting on several of his suits, and at well over 10k that is just unacceptable. So unless you want perfection, the best is to try to find a compromise between price and quality. Nearly every tailor has access to all the same English and Italian fabrics and buttons, with local Chinese tailors having better access at slightly better prices. We are in China after all and it is the Chinese that import this stuff. You stated that you work in Wan Chai and time is important…I would recommend “Shanghai Tailor” on Luard Rd, diagonal from HSBC and between Hennessy and Lock Hart Roads. The guy is good, and fast, with very good quality, especially when you consider the price. Plus he generally knows how a good European suit should fit and look. Depending on the fabric, a suit is around 2400-3000. Keep in mind that you are asking for something very western/European in a suit from a non-western society where everything has a Chinese twist on it, therefore, it is you the customer that needs to know a little about how a proper suit should fit and look right down to the spacing of the buttons. If your look for a tailor that knows all that and can make you the perfect suit, then you’re on the wrong side of the world, take a flight to London and see Sir. Giles on High Street.
