Are Rentals/property prices really going up?

hey
A general question to all..i just read in the singapore newspapers last week..that HK property prices are going up..is that true?...and also does that apply for rental too..does anyone have any leads on this?

Yes they are going up a little bit. The secondary market is also heating up (used property). Not sure about rentals... best bets are to use gohome.com.hk as your property index and ignore the sometimes ignorant reporters who are more than willing to repeat what the property developers and HK Govt (who have a vested interest in prices going up).

If they are, then I certainly haven't noticed it yet. Rentals, as far as I know, are still in the doldrums. Sales have been improving, but that is due mainly to the units in newer buildings being offered. The HK govt's recent decision to start land sales may have had a bullish impact on the property sector. But then again, it's just talk. I've yet to see any concrete improvements.
