| please help!! my usb ports don't work anymore coz my flatmate didn't remove his ipod 'safely' yesterday! in the properties of the usb-host and -ports it says, that it should work, but it doesn't!!! what can i do to make my usb ports work again??? any ideas?? thank you! |

| Assuming your on xp, restore to your last backup? |

| are the usb ports enabled in bios? And what flavour of windows are you using? |

| hi there.... it is xp, i am using... in: control panel-hardware-device manager-usb hab-properties , it sais, that they are full funcionable (is it that what u mean with functionable in bios??) thanks again!! |

| @fly... i didn't backup my system regularly.... does the system backup itself regularly every week or so.... i don't want to loose any files i worked on in the last few weeks!! |

| Yeah the system should be backing itself up. Go to Start then Help and Support, you should see the system restore option there. Then follow the instructions and pick a date you want to restore to. Make sure you don't turn off your computer during the restore process. |

| Have you ever tried to plug it into different USB ports of your PC? Sometimes it may help when the port recognises as it as a new device. |

| @phooney: thanks for the advice... i'll try to update the driver first; if that doesn't help i'll restore the system; if that doesn't help, i'll uninstall the usb driver and restart the computer, so that he detects the new hardware and installs the driver by itself again... if that doesn't work either, i'll throw my laptop out of the window... @jimmy: yes i have...all 3 ports are not detecting my mouse, mp3 player, usb stick... @knowitall: thanks for the site!! @all: thank you very much for helping me!! |
