Hi All,

New to HK ... just finished first week here! New to this site so not sure how things work.

Can anybody suggest friendly places to go in the Taikoo area... and any unfriendly places to avoid?

Would like to meet some friendly people ... soon ....!

Anybody fancy socialising this weekend?

taikoo place (at quarry bay mtr station) and soho east (sai wan ho station) are good place to hang out abit. but not sure if there are others like yourself...

you can check out Citiplaza if you haven't already done so.

Yes City Plaza is nice. Just a few stops along the MTR is Quarry Bay where you will find a number of restaurants, cafes and bars popular with the exatriate crowd.

actually nothing at citiplaza other than the typicaly woman shopping kind of things. so go to quarry bay that's the better spot to pick some decent beer.

Well I'm not a fan of PCC but it's a good spot to sit and pass the time. Heck you might even get some surfing done. Personally, I like shopping at the UNY supermarket - a little more civilised than PnS and Wellcome. And Ruby Tuesday's does a good hamburger.

Taikoo Place has live band every last fri of the month.

The 3 more prominent pubs at Taikoo Place are
- East End Brewery: Cheaper beer at Happy Hour
- Cafe Einstein: No happy hour rate, but nice comfy sofa seats.
- Thai Orchid: Buy-1-get-1-free drinks from 5pm - 8pm

The crowd is mainly people working in the nearby building incl Citibank, PCCW, and ... I dunno :P

Other chill-out places: grappas, california pizza.

There is also a cigar shop where you can smoke n buy cigars...

Also, Harbour Plaza North Point Hotel at Quarry Bay also has happy hours from 5-8pm and 10pm-12midnight where you can get buy-1-get-1-free drinks from its menu. The lounge also has boardgames which you can play with ur frens
