EyeTV Does anyone know if the original EyeTV would work in HK? What kind of cable signals do you get there? Analog or digital? Thanks!

I recall seeing them for sale at the Apple store near LKF. Never tried using it as there wasn't that much I felt like recording off of the cable.

I don't necessarily want to record stuff but if I can use EyeTV then I can watch TV on my mac and not have to buy a TV.

I think the new mac displays are DVI-D, which may be supported by some cable boxes (though I think most cable boxes are DVI-I). Or maybe i have that backwards. Anyway--might be a way to connect. I know my icable box was nothing of the sort--but it was old and crappy.

Hmmmm...that's true. Do you know if the cable or IPTV service in HK sends out analog or digital signal? Thanks!

I really think it is an analog signal (at least icable) judging by the overall pixelation and quality (lacking). I have a mix in the US, some HD, some Digital, and some Analog. You really can see the difference. Have you seen this thread? It's how to make a PVR with a HKBroadband setup http://forum.byopvr.com/dvr/index.php?topic=3193.new It's about Windows but some concepts carry over.
