Planning to go Russia for about 2 weeks in late Aug early Sep (after all the school holiday crowds evacuated from the HKIA). Any good 'must see/do' suggestions? Is it difficult for a female traveller who knows no Russian language to go alone? Any one interested to join?

Vlin! Moscow is a must.. the atmosphere there is just so.. hmm.. Russian (~USSR) compared to St. Petersburg, which is a very beautiful city as well. However I think it'd be safer not to travel on your own, also as you need "invition" to get Russian visa, backpacking could be a problem. Ever thought of taking Tran-serbian Railway? Cheers, Blom

Moscow in August can be pretty awful, if I recall. It's quite hot, a lot of folks are on vacation. Aim more for September for Moscow.
