we're moving from sing to hk in the coming month and have recently checked out the housing situation, etc. all that i'm writing is from the mouth of a newcomer so i hope some people on the ground there will correct me if i'm wrong. i myself would like to know if the prices we were quoted were real or likely to be significantly negotiated. that said, here's what we've learned.

housing in south side: we were looking at places btw 2000-2600 sqft more or less. they seriously fudge the footage in the newer places, by the way so they're not as big as they should be. anyway, asking prices ranged from 62K to 80K, excluding management fees.

a good number of the places we saw had pools.

club-wise we saw the american club and aberdeen club, neither of which we think we can get into. the aberdeen is FANTASTIC for kids. unbelievable. the american is...nice.there are seriously long waiting lists for many of the clubs from what we learned, if your company gives you a debenture you can jump the line.

schools: well, the debentures again are the way to insure you get in. you have to choose from English Foundation schools and the many international schools (american, French, Singaporean, etc). fees? i don't know but i know that a lot of these schools have websites which should help.

ok, so that's what we got from our 3 day trip to HK. hope it's helpful. if you need info about sing i'm probably far more accurate!
