We're moving to HK island soon and are considering some older flats that might need some modernization (e.g. upgrading of kitchen cabinets, replacement of pink or aqua toilets, etc.). Are such things typically negotiable with landlords? If landlords are unwilling to spring for such renovations, will they be likely to be amenable to such improvements if we make them at are own expense? Does anybody out there have any experience with this sort of thing?
