Hello,

I work for a company that would like me to work from their Hong Kong office. They checked with some lawyer and he said I had not worked long enough for the company and I would never get a work visa. I have worked about 6 months. He also said being an American was part of the problem. Does anyone know if this is just nonsense? I have seen in some other threads people who have had lawyers tell them it is impossible and then when they do the work themselves get a visa right away.

The other thing that pisses me off is the company hired a japanese off the street about two months ago who just showed up on a tourist visa and they got them a visa right away.

I would like to know peoples opinons on this issue since I am starting to feel this company is either not knowledgable about this issue or is being racist because the Hong Kong office currently has a Japanese as its boss.
