| Sorry for the late reply. There is a large-ish fishing shop in Wanchai. It's on the 1/F & 2/F on Ship Street (I think) junction with Queens Road East. If you find the KFC, it's near that. They arrange deep sea overnight fishing trips and there are loads of photos but they all seem to be local lads, so if you are not good with Cantonese, might be difficult to communicate. They head down south of HK and sometime also east. However, I don't think they rent anything other than a couple of obscenely expensive Japanese digital reels (like 12K to buy!). Having said that, for about 3K you could probably kit yourself out fairly well.
Another option is head to Apliu St in ShamsuiPo, there is an MTR exit on that street. Near the junction with Yen Chau St and actually along the street are some 2nd hand rods/reels stalls. Rods are OK, but reels watch out, perhaps better buy your reels and tackle new.
