IMHO digital pianos have several advantages such as:

1) never need tuning
2) easier to transport (less heavy)
.
Some of the latest Yamaha and Roland models are superb.

Where will you relocate too? The voltage of a digital piano in UK or Europe will be the same as in HK although you may have problems if you are going back to the US. Weighing in at only 65-80 Kg depending on the model you could always ship a digital back with you.

Digital pianos in HK are a lot cheaper than in the UK but I agree second hand values in HK are very low.
