There are lots of one issue voters. It might seem odd to simply not vote for someone because they are not pro-life but I have met people who simply will vote on that basis. I also know someone who is very intelligent (one person in particular) who is religious and felt that he couldn't vote for a pro choice candidate in '04 even though he thought he would be better for the country.
