Yes, carried to the logical extreme we Westerners abandon HK, Aussie, NZ, North and South America, etc... and all head back to Europe.
It is a rather self-centered line that is drawn. All territory grabs before (fill in the year to exempt your personal favorite countries) are okay. But not after. I pick 1940, except if US national interests are at stake.
And those red blockers are annoying sometimes. Why don't they just argue their point rather than sneaking around dropping bombs and running?
