Yes, sure: People are very bad, by nature we are very bad so it does not surprise me that what goes around comes around, and then around, and around. The world in general is amazingly different to a few hundred years ago - even shifts of power and also the way power is shifting now (example, power shifting to China, but not by war etc).
[As a side note, those Christians who said the Earth is flat didn't read their Bible which says in Isaiah 40:22 that the earth is round.]
