An announcement in a Chinese newspaper yesterday morning attracted large crowds to the waterfront in the vicinity of Statue Pier before midday. There was hardly any standing room on Queen's Pier for several hours and Wardley Street was packed on either side. The crowd had turned up to see a "flying car", but what they did not realise was that it was April 1 (All Fool's Day). The announcement said the "flying car" would take off from inside the Hongkong Bank building and proceed over Kowloon. |
