Where are you in the States? Well, if you happen to be in a state where there is a Chinatown (or one nearby)...my recommendation is to visit travel agencies there. Generally, travel agents that cater to the asian population will have ongoing deals with airlines that have routes to Asia, especially HK since it's such a popular destination. They will have airfares well below what you can ever find on any internet travel sites like expedia, cheaptickets, orbitz, etc...
