Wired Broadband

Hi Everyone,

I noticed that the PCCW jacks in the wall can plug in cat 5 cables (internet cables) and it gave me an idea. I currently would like to run a home linux server but my server is in a different room then the router. I thought about making the server wireless but I feel a wired connection may be more secure. So the setup I would like is as follows:

PCCW NEC box -> Router -> Cat5 cable into wall jack -> Cat 5 cable from 2nd room wall jack -> server

Does anyone know if this is possible or would I need to put the server next to the router for a wired connection?
