Rules for sick leave
I have a new employee that has been here for a little over a month. She has asked for a paid sick day leave for 1 day next week and has a doctors note. I think she is getting an outpatient surgery done. Anyway I want to know what the rule is or norm for allowing sick leave in this situation. I will give her the day off, but should it be paid or unpaid? The nice part of me wants to say no big deal take the day off paid, but I don't want to set a free for all precendence in the office. Advice please.
