Where to buy LEDs? Anyone knows where to buy LEDs? I need them to make a lemon battery to show the kids (and no, a lemon battery does not light a flashbulb!).

WECL WECL Online ؽbu English index seems to be down at present. The WECL store is in 201 ApLiu Street, Sham Sui Po. It's a busy place even on a quiet day. Look for the WECL sign, same logo as the web site. Exit the MTR A2 onto Apliu St, look to the right (North West), you can see it above the street stalls on the LHS of ApLiu St. Ground floor is mostly AV/CCTV stuff, go upstairs. dot.zen

I don't know much about it, but don't LEDs have a minimum voltage above that of what can be achieved by a rudimentary voltaic cell?

Where to buy LEDs to build a lemon battery Good shop! Bought a few LEDs and a multimeter. Staff is helpful, although they didn't believe a LED would light with a few lemons! With four lemons in series, I got around 3.5V and 0.3mA. The LEDs I bought (red, green and yellow) use around 2V and up to 30mA. All three LEDs (one at a time) light with this lemon battery! If we connect all the LEDs in series, we still get a faint glow from all three. Last edited by sofia vaz pinto; 11-07-2008 at 10:12 PM.
