help needed for flight check in at HK mtr??

    Hello,
I would like some advice please.
I am aware you can check in for flights from hk mtr then take the airport express.
But i just had a few questions....

Do i check in 2 hours before my flight? or do i need to be there earlier so i am at the airport 2 hours before my flight?

If i checked in 24 hours before my flight and checked my case in etc, what time do i need to be at the airport...still 2hours before or less?

Hope someone can help me please

The minimum check-in time at HK Airport Express station is 100mins before your flight. You never need to be at the airport 2 hours before your flight. Check-in at the airport closes (for most airlines) 40 minutes before the flight.

If you check-in 24 hours before you flight then you simply need to be at the boarding gate 20 minutes before the flight. I would normally get a train about 90 minutes before the flight in that situation (perhaps 100mins if I knew that the flight was on a far away gate).

This all assumes that you are a HKID card holder so that there is no likelihood of a delay at immigration.

Thank you so much for your advice.
I don't have a HKID, just a normal british passport. (As I am employed in Macau not HK)
My flight is at 00.35am with BA, what time would you advise i get to hk mtr to check in my luggage?
    Thanks again PDLM

All BA flights go from gates 15-18, very close to Immigration / Security.

You need to be checked in at HK station by 22:55; I wouldn't expect much of a queue (if any) so be there by 22:45 and you'll be fine. You'll get the 23:00 train, be at the airport before 23:30, and probably still have 30 minutes to kick your heels at the gate waiting for boarding to start.

Get on the train near the front and use the security / immigration on the north side of the terminal (i.e. in the direction of the front of the train as it arrived).

Assuming you have no reason to think they will stop and question you at immigration, 11pm or a little before should be fine, as long as you are comfortable with getting to the airport an hour before your flight leaves. Figure it will take 10 minutes to check in/wait for the train to arrive, then another 25 minutes to the airport. That leaves an hour to get through passport control/security and to the gate.

If coming from Macau, why not catch the 2015 ferry direct to the airport.
