These guys are a bunch of crooks (quite literally).

I came across them by accident while trying to find a driver for my USB stick. They seemed to have the driver and just required a "one off payment" of USD 4.88. The "one off payment" was all highlighted etc, so I thought it was not too much of a risk...

I was wrong.

FIrstly, they took USD 41 from my credit card, NOT 4.88

Secondly, a week later they stole another USD 49

Thirdly, they didn't have the driver - it turned out to be a scam torrent site and when I searched for my driver and downloaded the supposed file, it just infected my window laptop with somethink that prevented me from searching in google but kept defaulting back to this strange website.

So - I have cancelled my credit card (what a bloody pain); am disputing both the transactions; cleaned the windows pc (I hope).

If anyone sees anything relating to "360 " this is the same people I think. They claim unlimited downloads of stuff - it's rubbish, not even a "normal" torrent site. BEWARE.

I'm pissed off but if this prevents anyone else from being scammed, it's worth posting.

On a secondary point _ i'm going to get a prepaid "disposable" credit card for this type of stuff in future. I found a UK version - does anyone know if they do them in HK? Tried asking HSBC, they were useless, as usual.

I'd been searching for days. I tried asking on here. I tried everything. I was desperate it it was "only" USD 4.88 ... ie worth the risk of losing USD 4.88. ... I didn't know they'd steal more money off my card! Now I do - so I won't put my number into any site like that again.

MP3-Payment.com looks like some kind of payment service. Maybe something like paypal. I think the company that scammed you was another one who just happens to be using mp3-payment.

But still, with a name like MP3-Payment, I wouldnt trust them.

I wondered that. Then I emailed them and got the same crap back as was on the website. They are the same folks. A payment site, like paypal, would probably have asked who the merchant was .... (I didn't say in my email).

Anyway, I googled "fraudulent payments by mp3-payments.com" yesterday. I found a heap of consumer help websites warning about them. It's all scam.

Did you do a google search on them before sending payment?

Nope. Not til after. My bad, I know. It was late, I was tired. I REALLY wanted to get this damn USB modem to work before going on holiday. It still doesnt.

I just searched through his posts, a Huawei 3G modem. Unfortunately they really don't have good platform support.

Yes, a Huawei 3G model model 156G, on windows 7. The "built in" ones don't work (I guess because they are not windows 7) and I cannot find anything else.
