Need to solve personal probs...
I've been having serious insomnia for almost one year now - tried sleeping pills & alcohol, but obviously not so good for health.
It started after I broke up with my bf who I moved to HK with, and thinking I need to get rid of my mental problem in order to have a normal life.
I'm wondering if there is any good psychologist or healers who can help me out?
(Especiaslly because I don't have many friends now after I broke up with my bf & keep distance with common friends of ours...)

Are there any sleep labs in Hong Kong? I heard that you can get a pretty good analysis from taking a sleep examination, and then your doctor can treat it according to the test results.

Since your insomnia is psychosomatic, I think talking to someone and making some new friends are the best policy. Alcohol is a depressant, so if you're down, it's gonna make you feel worse. Exercise always makes me feel better, so it's worth a shot too. If you ever wanna talk about your situation, I'd be happy to hear you out.

I am sorry to hear about this difficulty.
Not being able to sleep is only a problem if we only have a certain time slot to sleep because we have to do things, like work, at other time slots.
If you need to sleep at night for work or college in the day, then it is really work or school that is the problem. If you change these things, like getting a night job, you may have solved the problem.
I was once working in a foreign city in which I had to get to work early in the morning, so I began doing the same things you are doing. It is unhealthy. But when I switched to afternoon and night work, I could sleep on my own schedule without using those things.
You might radically change your life, if you can, because there may be subconscious unresolved thoughts troubling you. If you can take a vacation, this might help. If you keep asking people about this matter, eventually someone may give you the right answer. If you are going to certain bars or clubs, you may want to switch the routine and go to different places.
I do not have much faith in psychologists.

Don't take drugs and drink. They don't help. What about starting a new life? Go out and meet some new friends, share your worries, sad feelings and problems with them. Concentrate on your work to get yourself tired enough. Go out for a walk during weekends on the outlying islands. Get a company with you, go up the hills, see the ocean, or swim in the sea! Get some good food. Be sure you really love yourself. That's the key!
Breaking up with someone is painful. It's easy to get depressed sometimes. If you feel that, find somebody to talk to.
I'm a very good listener so if you need to talk to someone, do msg me: agnes.scope@hotmail.com (that's my MSN). I'll tell you my number and we can go out & have a tea.

How horrible for you. I was in a similar situation a few years ago. To me it sounds like you should go and see a good doctor and talk to them as you may be depressed. You may not need the drugs or the psychs, just somebody who is willing to hear you out. I know that just having my situation diagnosed, made things a little easier to understand. And yes, dogs are great too!
Good luck and keep strong.

Sounds like you are going through a painful breakup and rugs and alcohol are not the way to get more sleep.
Like many of the suggestion in this forum and some opinions, I would firstly say that a doctor will only prescribe more drugs which give short term relief.
Honestly, life will eventually move on and no matter how hard it was, time heals.
Break out of the normal routine that you had with the bf, go to different bars/holidays etc, start regular exercise, join some of the geo outings and make new friends etc. and life will return to normal eventually.
Good luck and keep up your chin. It will not look as bad when you look back to this saga in a few months time.
