Facebook Connect on GeoExpat

We have been experimenting with some new software which allows users with Facebook accounts to sign up and use GeoExpat in less than a minute.

With this new integration, around 20-25% of our new signups are through facebook accounts and there has been a decrease in activation and login related support emails.

So, how does this work?

How To Post An Ad On GeoExpat

We allow our users to post ads in various categories within our classifieds section.

If your ad falls under the categories of

- Cars, Boats, Bikes
- Property (Housing/Commerical)
- Business/Commercial Services,

the base price is $88.  All other ads are free to post, provided that they are non-commercial and for personal use.

Here are some tips on how to use our classifieds effectively:

You need be a registered user on our site. To register, you need a valid email address that we can send you email on.  Make sure you can send and receive email from this address (Hotmail and Yahoo have limited quotas, and users often end up not receiving emails from potential buyers).

Once you’ve logged into your account, click the “Classifieds” tab.  Then, click “Upload Ad.”  Choose the type of Ad you wish to place.

Then, fill in the appropriate sections of the form.  Avoid headlines like “For Sale” or “For Rent” - they have a lower click-through rate.  It’s better to use headlines that are more descriptive, e.g. “Furnished apartment in Mid-Levels” or “Used baby stroller.”

You can upload up to 3 pictures with your ad.  You also have the option of making your ad stand out to potential buyers by highlighting it or making it bold.  This is at an extra cost of $25.

Once you are happy with your ad, submit it.

When you have sold the item or you wish to stop receiving enquiries, go back to the link and click on the “SOLD IT!” link.
